Advocates Enrolled to the Bar at the High Court

The Chief Registrar, His Worship Paul Gadenya\r\nin his remarks while presiding over the enrollment of advocates to the bar at\r\nthe High court on December 8, 2014 congratulated the newly enrolled advocates\r\nupon going through the huddles of the law school and Law Development Centre\r\nfurther mentioning that the law profession is an honorable profession which is\r\nrespected, loved and envied by everyone.

\r\n\r\n

His Worship Gadenya urged lawyers to be confident,\r\ncompetitive, and sometimes even combative and in order to achieve these lawyers\r\nneeded to invest   in essential\r\nleadership skills such as sensitivity, emotional intelligence, resilience, capacity\r\nfor critical reflection.

\r\n\r\n

He further noted that the lawyers must have values\r\nsuch as integrity honesty, trust, and an ethic for service. Personal skills\r\nsuch as self control, self direction and self awareness should be the norm\r\nrather than the exception and these that skills should be matched by\r\ninvestments in Interpersonal skills such as social awareness, empathy, and\r\npersuasion and conflict management as well as Vision matched by Technical\r\ncompetences such as knowledge, preparation of their cases and judgment.

\r\n\r\n

He warned the lawyers about unchecked ambition,\r\nself confidence, and self centeredness as that would sabotage their leadership\r\nambitions. He noted that the most successful leaders are those who can see past\r\ntheir own ambitions, and retain the capacity for critical reflection on their\r\nown performance.

The Chief Registrar wished the lawyers\r\nsuccess as they joined the law profession.
